first time?
Welcome to ethos climbing! We are so glad you’re here and we can’t wait to show you what our favourite sport is all about!
step 1:
waiver
Create your account either in-person or online. Then read and sign our waiver.
-
You can but you can also sign your waiver at our waiver station when you arrive but it will speed along the process if you complete it online ahead of time :)
-
Yes! Even if you’re just hanging out we require you to sign a waiver and check in at the front desk.
-
No! The only circumstance in which you can fill out a waiver for another person is if you are the parent or guardian of a minor.
step 2:
shoes
Come in and try on some fancy kicks (rental shoes). Climbing shoes are very stylish and required to climb.
-
Nope! We require everyone to wear climbing shoes—you can bring your own or rent from us. Climbing shoes provide lot more control of your toes and feet, giving you a better and safer climbing experience!
-
Rental shoes are an additional $7/day, unless you are doing a two week trial in which case they are included in your membership.
-
You want your climbing shoes to be fairly tight to give you the best control. About a half size down for beginners is great but the best climbing shoe is the one that feels right for you!
step 3:
climb
Get over here!
One of our lovely staff will give you an orientation and help get you started!
-
Our orientation includes a tour of our space, an explanation of our grading system/route configuration, and a fall test. The fall test includes an explanation and demonstration of what safe falling looks and feels like.
-
The only way to fail is to refuse to try! (Or to not laugh at Kate’s jokes). Our staff will work with you until we both feel good about what your safe fall looks and feels like.
-
Yes! Even if you’re a seasoned climber and faller we require you to complete an orientation and fall test with one of our lovely team members!

There is technically not an age restriction, however, this is an adult-oriented bouldering gym. We do not set with kids in mind and do not have any kids programming. If you’d like to bring your kids here you can— you will need to attentively supervise kids under the age of 13.

Any chalk that doesn’t have the ingredient ‘resin’ in it, most commonly found in liquid chalk. Resin is sticky and makes our holds harder to clean.
